How Much Does a Custom Engagement Ring Cost in 2026?

Ask three jewelers what a custom engagement ring costs and you'll get three non-answers: "it depends." It does depend — but on a short, knowable list of things. A custom ring is just two components added together: the center stone and the setting that holds it. Once you see the numbers for each, the mystery disappears.
Component one: the center stone
The stone is the biggest variable, and lab grown diamonds have made it dramatically smaller. Because we grow and cut our own diamonds in our Guangzhou factory, our stone pricing is roughly what a traditional retailer pays at wholesale — there is no middle layer between the growing chamber and your ring.

For context: a mined 2-carat diamond of comparable quality typically runs $15,000–$25,000 at retail. Same carbon crystal, same fire, same grading labs — different origin, different price.
Component two: the setting
The setting is the metalwork — the band, the prongs or bezel, any accent stones. Its cost is driven mostly by gold weight and purity, which is why the karat you choose matters more than the complexity of the design:

Putting it together
A complete custom ring is simply stone plus setting. A 2-carat oval in a 14K gold setting: $2,350 + $550 = $2,900. A 1-carat in 9K: $1,150 + $400 = $1,550 — which is where our custom work starts. There is no "design fee" hidden on top; CAD previews and revisions are free.

Why custom is no longer the expensive option
Ten years ago, custom meant a designer's hourly rate plus a retail markup on materials — you paid for the privilege twice.
